Transportation Awareness and Activism is all about reducing your greenhouse gas emissions.
What Can You Do to Drive Your Vehicle Less?
Here are some ways that you can help to reduce greenhouse gas and put the brakes on climate change! 🚦
Fly Less
- Reducing air travel is one of the biggest things you can do to cut your carbon footprint.
- If you need to fly, look for ways to offset the impact.
Can You Go Car-Free?!
- Take one car-free trip each week. Then increase your number of car-free trips over time! 🚗
- Encourage a neighbor, family member, or friend to go car-free one extra trip per week
- Telecommute to work or meetings instead of going in person
- Patronize nearby businesses to reduce your travel
- Take walkability into account the next time you move so you can walk/bike/take transit to get around!
- Grow your own veggies/produce in the summer to reduce trips to the store
Carpool/Combine Errands
- Carpool with friends and neighbors when possible. Ask your neighbors how you can help them eliminate a trip!
- Run an errand for them especially if it’s close to your destination
- Drive in the same car if you are going to the same event
- Share a ride to the grocery store, an event, work, church, etc.
- Explore other carpool options
- Plan ahead for errands and outings to combine trips
Ride a Bike - Electric or human powered! 🚴🏼
Walk When You Can🚶🏽
- There are many benefits to you and the environment if you’re able to walk to your destination.
- Walk to the store (if you live close enough)
Take a Scooter (electric or human powered) 🛴
